FAQs
Worchem
-
We highly recommend this option for our clients and we've had great success for our clients when they have taken us up on this offer.
Our site audit involves us coming to your site and firstly learning:
- How your site is currently cleaned, from solutions used to current equipment on site and available
- What you priorities and goals are with regards to cleaning and as a business
- Any problem areas that may be bugging you - This may include but not limited to: lack of storage, the grimy corners, dusty vents out of reach, unmanageable bathrooms or toilets or high traffic areas you can't keep clean.
From there we will put together a proposal of the products we recommend, why these products and how to use each of them to make your site's cleaning team as efficient and effective as possible.
We will try our best to offer products that can be used in multiple areas and do multiple jobs but also specific products that your team may not know that are available that can massively improve cleanliness and ease in certain areas.
If it's your own facility or a site you service get in touch and we are happy to help with your product selection and efficiency.
-
We have been very precise about what we supply as a cleaning supplies business and if we have left a product off our range there could be good reason.
We believe that certain products that are regularly used throughout businesses in New Zealand are less efficient, economic, and wasteful of our resources.
If a product isn't there that your business regularly purchases, please send a message asking why? We will either give you a good reason and a trial of a product that will improve you cleaning quality and efficiency or we will looking into searching for an good option in this space.
We have a wicked network of suppliers who can set us up with almost any product on the market if not a great similar alternative. so yes we can.
-
The mops and cloths we sell are able to be returned to us so that we recycle them for you.
If you we have the opportunity to work with you and you purchase our microfibre cloths and mop fringes we will happily accept your products at end of life so they do not end up in the landfill. If they make them to use we will have them cleaned and sent to our partner who will send them into 1 of three pathways to be repurposed.
They will either end up as
- Upholstery filling used for the furniture industry. This process happens in Australia.
- Recycled yarn used for other home furnishings.
- With local designers and up-cyclers by passing on some material for them to create end products.
We understand the impact our products can have and the end of life is important, particularly for microfibre material which is hard to recycle and have limited options for this in New Zealand. We have partnered with a New Zealand and Australia business to help you minimise your organisations waste.
If you have any questions about this get in touch.

Hygiene Products - Soap₂O
-
It's another step and not the normal but when it takes 1 minute how big of a step is it?
Firstly, we aren't shipping water to you which is cost,
Secondly we don't ship water to you, our packaging is minimised and therefore your waste is too, that's a waste processing cost. Single sites can remove over 200kg of single use plastic waste annually from one product change. Imagine a whole country.
Thirdly, you don't store water (getting repetitive I know). For the size of one 1L cartridge, you can now store 16L of soap on your trolley or in your cupboard. That's a reduction of storage and site movement size of 92%.
-
The 3-in-1 hand, body and hair and the foaming hand soap are each a bit different.
Our Hydroshots and Hydropods each make 4 Litres of soap.
Foaming Soap
Our foaming Soap Hydropods dissolve in 30 seconds. Shake for 30 seconds and you're good go and put that soap in your foaming dispensers.
3-in-1 Hand, Body and Hair
Add our 3-in-1 Hydroshot into 4L of water and shake.
Then a quick wait of 5 minutes gives it time for the soap turn from water to a gel body wash. It's so cool it's almost a miracle. It's just wicked innovation to have a dilutable gel soap
Mopping
-
String mops are outdated technology.
Before things get crazy, they do have their place - their place is on very rough floors and included in spill kits.
Flat mops provide a more efficient clean as they:
- are faster for your team
- use less water and therefore less cleaning product making them more cost efficient
- create less waste as they are easily machine washable
- offer a better quality clean.
- are easier on your body and therefore you can mop for days
What we hope is that you give us a chance to show you how we can make you more efficient and your cleaning teams jobs easier.
You are also able to return these mops and your microfibre cloths to us so we can recycle them for you. We have partnered with with an organisation to recycle them as mentioned above in the 'Worchem Section".
-
In your washing machine is the simple answer.
We recommend washing your flat mop fringes in the washing machine with washing powder and an ideal temperature of 60°C.
Please do not use bleach and fabric softener as this will clog up the microfibre properties that makes these products so awesome.
-
The Pre-Soak Method
The pre soak method is also a great way to be more resource and cost efficient if you use our standard flat mop set ups.
For example we'll start with our 46cm fringe.
- We recommend 20-40 m² per fringe (this depends on how dirty your floor is etc)
- Get the number of mop fringes you will likely need (150m² requires approximately 5 fringes)
- Add water or solution to the bucket to make the fringes damp but not dripping wet. We recommend 250ml per fringe. About 1.25 Litres for this example.
- If you're using Hypagreen All Surface and Floor Cleaner add one sachet and dissolve
- Add your 5 fringes to the solution and let soak so all of the water is absorbed.
- Pull out one fringe, stick it to your mop frame and mop the first area.
- Once fringe is dirty - remove from the frame, put in a washing bag, get the next fringe out, attach to the frame and continue mopping
- Repeat process until the floor is completely clean.
- Once completed put your dirty fringes in the Washing machine and wash for tomorrow.
If you service multiple sites and travel between, grab our mop bucket with a lid and you can make your days fringes at the start of the day. You don't need to find a water source on site, carry slopping buckets throughout the site and as our cleaning products are recommended to use with cold water, you don't need fresh hot water.
-
There are two ways:
Sprayer Mops such as the MotorScubber Blade and the FIlta Microfibre Spray Mop Set.
- These only dispense solution as required, limiting solution, no need for a bucket
- The risk we have with a spray mop is not replacing your fringe often enough, ensure you swap them out when dirty for an extra fringe and continue mopping
Scrubber Dryers
-
We have chosen to stock the I-team range of scrubber dryers and if you get your hands on a demo you'll understand why.
Here are a few key reasons why:
- The I-mop ranges mobility is second to none making it easy to get into corners, and get around furniture or other items in your site (vases etc)
- They are incredibly efficient with your solution and water using making your other costs go further.
- They are easy to use for anyone and do an incredible job with a range of brushes or pads to make them compatible with most surfaces.
- They are well thought out making them easy to repair and maintain if things do go wrong with them.
- They have a great service network throughout the country with parts available.
-
It can work as either.
Some businesses use it as their primary mop. Particularly sites with large flat areas or with floors that get particularly dirty.
- High traffic businesses - Schools, Malls, Airports, Hospitality, Aged Care, Tourism, Government Facilities, Smaller Supermarkets
- Sites that get particularly dirty - Pubs/Bars, Bakeries, Butcheries, Vets, Commercial Kitchen's, Food Manufacturing
Some use it as spill clean up
- Supermarkets for product spills and for specific areas that bigger ride-on Scrubbers can't get to.
- Aged Care and Healthcare for spills and mishaps
Some cleaning companies use them to deep clean more difficult sites but we believe the king of deep Cleaning is the Orbot range which we supply as well.
If you are regularly mopping longer than 30 minutes with a flat mop (not a string mop) then it is seriously worth considering for your business.
Get in touch and we'll organise a demo to show what is possible on your site.
Vacuum Cleaners
-
Backpack Vacuums have been repeatably proven to be more faster and more efficient that pull along vacuums. Some testing has found them to be twice as fast is vacuuming.
The main resistance we have heard is they're too heavy but once we get one on that persons back, they're quickly convinced on the change. Our Velo machine is 3.9 kg and the Superpro machine is 4.7 kg. With a high quality harness that takes the weight off your shoulders and onto your hips like a camping pack this makes for easy carrying and movement throughout the site.
Also pull along vacuums are well known for damaging walls, doors and other building parts from crashing into them. So ask for a trial of our vacuums to see whether they work for your use in your business or at home. There is a reason they're the Vacuum of choice by many commercial cleaning businesses. -

Consumables - Paper/Gloves/Liners
-
We had a good look around for paper products to add onto our line.
We have selected our paper range as it is single-use plastic free, FSC (Sustainably) manufactured and Net Zero Carbon into New Zealand.
Our paper products are wrapped in cardboard and paper wrapping. We know there is different opinions on paper vs plastic with carbon creation.
What we do know is soft plastic is difficult to recycle in our beautiful country, and therefore we have decided to wrap our paper products in paper and cupboard.
This makes them easy to ship and store (they hold their shape without damage) and easy to recycle the packaging in New Zealand.
-
Yeah they do.
If you're happy too commit to using our paper range for a two year period we're happy to supply dispensers on loan to you. We can also help with installation if required.
-
This is a messy so this is our opinion at Worchem. Hopefully not, but as technology changes this may too.
Compostable Bin Liners
Our Compostable Bin Liners are home compostable. This means they don't need special conditions to be composted, and can be composted in any organic aerobic system.
- They need to be disposed of in a composting system
- If they go into the landfill, they will most likely not breakdown properly
- Best used for food waste or collecting compostable products that are going into a compostable processing system.
- Not worth the cost or material for standard use
Biodegradable Bin Liners and Gloves
These are pretty awesome. Our biodegradable plastic gloves and bin liners break down in landfill. They have been tested to break down completely in landfill, anaerobic and aerobic conditions.
They have a small additive in the product that tricks the bacteria in landfills to break down the product.
Although it is not perfect with regards to landfill waste, it is a massive advantage as it will break down in years to decades instead of 100's of years like standard single use plastic gloves and bin liners. Learn more about these here.
So best options:
- No bin liner when possible, waterproof bins are reusable liners themselves.
- If your systems are capable of processing the liner in compostable systems - food waste, green processing. Ideally use a compostable bin liner.
- If they're aren't going to be split out and composted separately or are most likely to end in landfill, go for the biodegradable bin liners and gloves.
Window Cleaning
-
Our suppliers have pretty awesome resources available for those keen to learn and improve their window cleaning skills.
The video below is a pretty comprehensive overview of different window cleaning techniques.
-
Again, we're not professionals and to be completely honest, probably around average.
In saying that, a few things we have picked up and constantly practicing:
- Don't use too much water or solution on your cleaning tool. You want your tool damp not wet.
- A spray bottle can be a good way of controlling the amount of solution used. Spray onto the cleaning tool instead of dipping into a bucket. You'll also use less solution which is a cost bonus.
- When squeegeeing, holding your microfibre under the squeegee can collect the extra solution to be re-used and reduce mess on bottom window frames and floors below - especially inside.
- Don't squeegee too hard , a softer hand makes for a sharper blade and a better quality job.
Now that I've given you the basic tricks, please go and watch the video in the above FAQ, it is worth it. Otherwise at least watch this one about how to squeegee using the "S" technique.

The Unger Stingray is a pretty wicked solution for this.
Check out the below video on how to use the Stingray.
It's a great solution, it gets into all of the corners, using a washable microfibre Tri-Pad.
It can reduce the amount of solution used, leaves a top quality finish when used correctly and if you need to reach it has modular poles to extend the reach of the Stingray as required.
Get it ouch and we can come and show you the stingray in action.
Switching is simple.
You don’t need to overhaul your system — just upgrade your approach.
